Behind the Scenes

One of the interesting aspects of Fox's Market House Restaurant that brings in a lot of business is Steven Garner. Steve is a local gentleman who graduated from Central Mountain High School in 2011 and continued on to Graduate from the Pennsylvania School of Technology in 2013. In college, he duel majored in Accounting and Finance. After graduation, Steve landed a job at a prestige accounting firm that is out of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania and he works at the State College Pennsylvania branch. In his spare time, he plays piano at weddings, birthday parties, multiple churches, and most importantly, Fox's Restaurant. Steve plays at the restaurant every Tuesday night, Thursday night, Friday night, and during the Sunday morning brunch after he plays at his church. There are some customers that come specifically on the nights that Steve plays piano just to see him, rather than for the reason of them loving the food at Fox's. Steve plays a wide variety of music ranging from classics from the 60's, to modern songs from today, as well as festive songs during the holidays.
Another aspect of Fox's  that draws a large crowd into the restaurant are the auctions that are held every other Saturday morning in the back room of the building. Matthew Clark, the owner of Fox's, rents out the back warehouse space in the restaurant to Dick Hevner, a local auctioneer. While the auction is being held, people who are attending the auction can order breakfast food from the kitchen. Many people even come in and eat breakfast or lunch at the restaurant after the auction is over.

Events

Fox's Market House Restaurant likes to be well known across town and get their name out there. They cater many events including banquets and weddings. Last weekend, Fox's was a participant vendor at "Brews in the Barn" which is held at the Millbrook Playhouse in Mill Hall Pennsylvania. The message on the Millbrook Playhouse website promoting the event was "Join us for hors d' oeuvres and samplings of more than 50 varieties of craft, home and nationally distributed beer". Brews in the Barn also advertised a variety of appetizers from various vendors in the area. Among the list of vendors was Fox's Market House Restaurant. The event also had samplings of beer from many national, local, and home breweries, as well as live music and entertainment and overnight camping. Another large event that Fox's is a part of every year is the Fly-In. The Fly-In is held at the Piper Memorial Airport in Lock Haven Pennsylvania. At this years Fly-In there were an estimated 350 pilots from around the globe who participated in the event, along with their family, friends, and spectators from around town who came to watch. Fox's Market House Restaurant was one of the few businesses that was able to run a stand at the event. I personally got to work during the Fly-In at the Fox's stand and it was a very interesting experience. It was really fun getting to meet pilots from all over the world and have the chance to serve them food from our restaurant, and almost all of the employees who worked at our stand even got a change to ride in an airplane with the pilots! I would definitely love to work this event again if ever given the chance.

Fox's Market House restaurant is a historical building located in the heart of Lock Haven, Pennsylvania, and is enjoyed by hundreds each day. The two story building was first built in 1871 and was restored in 1991. The building still has many aspects of the original building, as well as demonstrates some of the most unique architectural  features in Central Pennsylvania. There are underground tunnels underneath the building that used to be used to store grains and supplies for the market house, and the tunnels can still be found in the basement today. The underground tunnels run from Fox's Market House restaurant and connect to many places throughout town. Fox's restaurant draws in the attention of a majority of the town due to cheap prices, quality served food, and friendly and familiar staff for every visit to the restaurant. Many of the people that come into Fox's are regulars, some even come in for all three meals every day of the week. Fox's Market House restaurant has a menu that caters to all ages and desires, which includes serving breakfast all day and delicious  home made deserts. Some of the more popular days of the week are "All you can eat Chicken and Waffles" on Tuesday nights, "All you can eat Beer Battered Fish" on Friday nights, and a breakfast buffet on Sunday mornings.  Fox's Market House restaurant caters many events throughout the year, including weddings and banquets.
